Abstract
The paper examines emerging dimensions of the gig economy with particular reference to digital crowd work. It discusses platform-based and on-demand work, freelance employment and the role of online platforms in connecting workers with customers. The study highlights the growing importance of digital gig work and reports that the growth of on-demand work is particularly high in neighbouring countries such as Pakistan.
